Dak Prescott, Cowboys Dominate Browns, Impress NFL Fans After QB's New Contract

Jack MurraySep 10, 2024

It was a good day for Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys.

The Pro Bowl quarterback started the day by signing a four-year, $240 million contract extension that makes him the highest-paid player in NFL history. Following the momentous signing, he and the Cowboys convincingly beat the Cleveland Browns 33-17 on the road.

Dallas was in complete control, as the defense limited the Browns to 230 total yards, sacked quarterback Deshaun Watson six times and forced two turnovers.

Kicker Brandon Aubrey had quite a day, knocking through four field goals, with the longest being from 57 yards. He also nailed a kick from 66 yards, but a penalty nullified the score.

The offense produced a solid 265 yards and was 1-of-1 in the red zone. Prescott moved the offense, going 19-of-32 for 179 yards and a touchdown.

The performance saw fans praise Prescott and the Cowboys and project the team as a contender.

The hype for the new season is something Dallas is used to.

Just last season, Dallas started 3-0 and cruised to a 12-5 record that saw it lock up a NFC East title. Prescott had one of his best campaigns, throwing for 4,516 yards with 36 touchdowns and nine interceptions.

This did not lead to playoff success as Dallas fell in the Wild Card Round to the Green Bay Packers. With the new deal, the expectations have only increased.

Dallas will look to build on the positive momentum in Week 2 when the team hosts the New Orleans Saints.
