Will Howard, No. 2 OSU Blowout Western Michigan as Jeremiah Smith Amazes CFB Fans

Jack MurraySep 7, 2024

It's a good day to be a Buckeye.

Ohio State hosted Western Michigan in Week 2 and showed just why it is a true contender for a national championship with a dominant 56-0 victory.

The Buckeyes led 35-0 at the half and the offense had little trouble handling the overwhelmed Broncos. This is the same Western Michigan team that hung with Wisconsin in Week 1 so this dominant victory shows just how high Ohio State could soar.

Quarterback Will Howard was strong once again, going 18-of-26 for 292 yards and a touchdown while also adding a six-yard rushing touchdown.

Tailback Quinshon Judkins also had a solid day, dashing for 108 yards and two touchdowns on just nine carries.

However, the star of the day once again was true freshman Jeremiah Smith.

Smith had five catches for 119 yards and a touchdown, with a bulk of the production coming on a 70-yard score. This comes after a 92-yard, two-touchdown performance in Week 1.

Fans took to social media to praise Smith's continued success.

Fans also took to social media to hype Ohio State's improvement and declare the team among the best in college football.

While the Buckeyes have only played MAC opponents thus far, the dominant fashion of the victories has been extremely notably.

Notre Dame lost to a MAC opponent, Northern Illinois, earlier in the day and arch-rival Michigan lost in blowout fashion to Texas. Ohio State's victory shows just how far ahead it is over other top programs and a Big Ten title could very well be in reach.

The Buckeyes have one more Group of Five opponent left before beginning a tough conference slate. However, the team should enter every game as a favorite and will hope to use the dominant victories as a blueprint down the line.
