The start to the 2024 NFL season is going to be slightly delayed.
Kansas City was awash in a major thunderstorm on Thursday less than an hour before kickoff, with lightning and major downpours above Arrowhead Stadium ahead of the Kansas City Chiefs' matchup with the Baltimore Ravens.
Peacock's pregame broadcast noted that the game was scheduled to begin at 8:40 p.m. ET, a 20-minute delay.
The storm forced the teams to delay their pregame warmups, though by around 7:45 ET the weather had begun to clear up.
The matchup features a rematch of last year's AFC Championship Game and two of the top Super Bowl contenders. The Chiefs are fresh off a second straight title in the Andy Reid, Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce era, while two-time MVP Lamar Jackson is looking to finally get over that hump and lead Baltimore to a title while now being paired with star running back Derrick Henry.
Weather forced NFL fans to endure a slight delay before the start to the 2024 NFL season, though thankfully it was scheduled to only be a short wait.
