CeeDee Lamb Says He'd 'Love' to Retire With Cowboys After Signing $136M Contract

Jack MurraySep 5, 2024

CeeDee Lamb wants to be a Dallas Cowboy for life.

The Cowboys wide receiver signed a four-year, $136 million deal to stay with the franchise on Aug. 26, keeping him in the fold through at least the age-28 season. It appears that he sees future contracts with the team as well as he labeled his next step as "staying here."

"The goal is obviously to get here (at the top of the profession), but to really show how elite you are is how long you stay here," Lamb said, per Jon Machota of The Athletic. "I would love to be here another contract and another one, and retire here."

Lamb missed a significant portion of training camp due to the contract negotiations and is currently "building up" to game speed. This could cause a slow start, but hit output in 2023 shows that his floor is incredibly high.

He made 135 catches for 1,749 yards and 12 touchdowns in 2023, earning a first-team All-Pro selection and finishing third for the Offensive Player of the Year award. This was his best season as a pro but it was also his third consecutive 1,000 yard season so he has a strong track record.

The Cowboys still have some questions regarding the long-term status of quarterback Dak Prescott but the 2024 season should not be impacted by that. Dallas went 12-5 and won the NFC East in 2023 and will hope to have a stronger playoff showing in 2024.

Lamb and the Cowboys open the 2024 season on Sunday against the Cleveland Browns.
