Caitlin Clark Records 2nd Career Triple-Double, Dazzles WNBA Fans in Fever Win
Indiana Fever rookie superstar Caitlin Clark continued to amaze on Wednesday by notching her second career triple-double (24 points, 10 assists, 10 rebounds) en route to a 93-86 home win over the Los Angeles Sparks.
The ex-Iowa Hawkeye also became the first rookie to make 100 three-pointers in a single WNBA season after hitting a third-quarter shot from downtown to give the Fever a 58-55 lead. She hit four threes on the evening and also had three steals.
Elsewhere, Clark did a great job finding her teammates, including Aliyah Boston, who posted a dominant 24-point, 14-rebound double-double.
Clark also had this behind-the-back hockey assist to Boston, who found Erica Wheeler for a triple.
Clark later did work on both ends, hitting a three, corralling a loose ball and finding Boston behind-the-back again, but this time for two more.
That turned a 71-68 game into a 76-68 advantage.
The Sparks were able to cut the Fever lead to three points on multiple occasions down the stretch but could not get any closer.
Indiana pulled away on the free-throw line in the closing minutes thanks to some clutch free throws and this timely Boston bucket, which was courtesy of Clark's 10th assist of the evening.
It's been an incredible run for the 18-16 Fever, now winners of five straight and seven of eight. The entire team has been firing on all cylinders, with Clark, Boston and Kelsey Mitchell (18 points) leading the way.
As for Wednesday, it was simply another amazing performance from Clark, who got her first triple-double on July 7 in an 83-78 win over the New York Liberty (19 points, 13 assists, 12 rebounds).
Indiana has six regular-season games left before the playoffs, including five straight at home. Up next is a date with the Minnesota Lynx on Friday evening at 7:30 p.m. ET.
