Deion Sanders, Colorado Get 1 Vote in Week 2 AP College Football Poll 2024 After Win
Fresh off its 31-26 season-opening win over Division I-FCS North Dakota State last Thursday, Colorado received one vote in the latest Associated Press Top 25 college football poll. That vote was from Mike Hill of Fox Sports, who placed Colorado at 25th.
Outside the Top 25, Colorado was one of 21 schools to receive recognition in the "Others Receiving Votes" category.
Pro Football Hall of Famer Deion Sanders is in his second season as the head coach for Colorado, which is led by his son, quarterback Shedeur Sanders, and two-way superstar Travis Hunter.
Both players were sensational against North Dakota State. Sanders completed 26-of-34 passes for 445 yards and four touchdowns (one interception). Hunter caught seven passes for 132 yards and three scores while playing full-time defensively.
As good as those two are, Colorado needs to improve in other areas for the team to become a Top 25 fixture. The run game didn't get going, as the Buffaloes rushed for 59 yards on 23 carries (2.6 YPC). The defense also struggled against the Bison, who possessed the ball for nearly 37 minutes while amassing 449 yards.
Colorado now faces a stiff test Saturday when it visits Nebraska. The Cornhuskers looked legit against UTEP as true freshman quarterback Dylan Raiola threw for 238 yards and two touchdowns in a 40-7 win over UTEP in Week 1.
Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET in Lincoln.
