Commanders Rumors: HC Dan Quinn 'Revered by His Peers'; GM Peters Hyped by Rivals

Washington Commanders head coach Dan Quinn and general manager Adam Peters already have the respect of opposing teams as they enter their first season working in tandem.

"Head coach Dan Quinn is revered by his peers, particularly among those who have worked with him, and general manager Adam Peters has an esteemed eye for talent," Jeff Howe of The Athletic wrote on Monday.

Howe also noted that both are "well-respected" around the league.

After finishing with a dismal 4-13 record in 2023, the Commanders made sweeping changes to their front office. Peters was hired by Washington on Jan. 15 and Quinn was brought in on Feb. 1 to replace former head coach Ron Rivera.

Peters spent the previous seven seasons in the San Francisco 49ers' front office, helping build a team that has advanced to the NFC Championship Game in four of the past five years.

Quinn's prior head coaching job with the Atlanta Falcons ended poorly, although he thrived as the Dallas Cowboys' defensive coordinator since he was brought in by the team ahead of the 2021 season. The Cowboys' defense is littered with stars such as Micah Parsons and Trevon Diggs, helping Quinn's unit record the No. 5 scoring defense in each of the past two seasons.

The Commanders will be looking to build around Jayden Daniels moving forward, as the No. 2 overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft has already turned heads in the preseason.

As Peters and Quinn look to create the ideal environment for Daniels to thrive in as he begins his NFL career, opponents already have respect for the Commanders' new regime.
