Jalen Milroe, No. 5 Alabama Impress CFB Fans in Kalen DeBoer's Debut with Win vs. WKU
The Alabama Crimson Tide are showing now signs of a regression.
In the first game of the Kalen DeBoer era, the Crimson Tide remained mighty with a 63-0 blowout over Western Kentucky.
It was the first Alabama game without Nick Saban since 2006 but the team still looked like a well-oiled machine. The Crimson Tide put up 21 points in each of the first two quarters and added 14 in the third before taking their foot off the gas in the final frame.
Ryan Williams, a 17-year-old freshman wide receiver, was the star of the day, making two catches for 139 yards and two touchdowns. Fans shared delight in the freshman's efficient day.
Jalen Milroe didn't have to throw too many times but he was impactful when he did.
The 21-year-old went 7-of-9 for 200 yards and 3 touchdowns while adding 10 rushes for 79 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.
Fans took to social media to praise Milroe's improvement and project him as a Heisman hopeful and a NFL draft pick.
While the Alabama operation looks a little different in 2024, the culture of the program is clearly still in place with Milroe under center and DeBoer on the sideline.
The Crimson Tide will face a non-Power Conference opponent once again in Week 2 when they head to Raymond James Stadium to take on the USF Bulls. That game will take place Sept. 7 at 7 p.m. ET.
