TOUR Championship 2024: 3 Instant Reactions to Friday Leaderboard Scores
Scottie Scheffler turned in yet another strong round at East Lake Golf Club on Friday to keep his multi-stroke lead at the Tour Championship.
Scheffler rose up to 21-under with a five-under 66. He began the tournament at 10-under with a two-shot lead because of his first-place spot in the FedEx Cup standings.
Few golfers have been able to match Scheffler's 11-under run through East Lake across two rounds.
Collin Morikawa and Xander Schauffele did their best to keep pace with Scheffler, but there is still a four-shot gap to Morikawa and five shots between Scheffler and Schauffele.
The overall theme of the Tour Championship so far has been low scoring. The majority of the field was once again in red numbers on Friday.
Scottie Scheffler Plays Well Again, Keeps Multi Stroke Lead

So far, so good for Scheffler playing with the lead.
Scheffler entered East Lake with a built-in two-shot edge over Schauffele and more than 1,500 points over his closest rival in the FedEx Cup standings.
Any pressure Scheffler entered Georgia with was washed away by his first two rounds.
He shot a six-under 65 on Thursday and followed that up with a five-under 66 on Friday.
Scheffler only had one blemish on his second-round scorecard, a bogey on the 13th hole, but he rebounded with two birdies in his final three holes.
Scheffler is well in the clear to win the overall FedEx Cup standings, and if he plays this well over the weekend, he could take the lowest stroke title at East Lake as well.
He is currently two shots back of Collin Morikawa in the Tour Championship stroke play standings.
Xander Schauffele, Collin Morikawa Surge Up Leaderboard

Morikawa and Xander Schauffele are close enough to Scheffler to put some pressure on the 36-hole leader.
The two major champions thrived throughout their rounds at East Lake on Friday to gain some clear separation over the rest of the field.
Morikawa shot an eight-under 63, which is the best round of the event so far, while Schauffele finished one shot back for the round with a 64.
Morikawa holds first place for the lowest strokes through two rounds, and he may need to replicate his second round at some point of the weekend to catch Scheffler.
Schauffele rebounded well from an average start to pull within five shots of Scheffler.
Both players probably need Scheffler to experience some trouble over the weekend to win the event, but at least they are in positions to pounce if that does happen.
Low Scores from First Two Days Set Up for Potentially Incredible Weekend

The majority of the 30-man field enjoyed golfing at East Lake so far this week.
Only Keegan Bradley and Chris Kirk, who both shots three-over, had over-par scores on Friday.
Twenty-four of the golfers in the field carded under-par rounds, led by Morikawa's 63, to put some robust scores on the leaderboard.
At minimum, the low scoring throughout the field should make for some drama across the leaderboard on Saturday and Sunday.
Every finishing place in the FedEx Cup standings comes with a different monetary amount attached to it, so that should place plenty of motivation within the field, even if no one catches Scheffler.
