49ers Exec Compares Brandon Aiyuk to Raiders' Davante Adams After WR's $120M Contract
After signing a massive four-year, $120 million contract on Thursday, San Francisco 49ers star wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk is drawing comparisons to one of the league's top receivers over the last several years.
Per NFL insider Jordan Schultz, one 49ers executive said Aiyuk has the chance to have a career like Las Vegas Raiders star Davante Adams.
"We believe his best football is ahead of him," the executive said. "He's only 26, he's still learning the intricacies of the position. This is an ascending player… There's no reason why he can't have a similar career as a Davante Adams, for example."

Just four years into his career, Aiyuk has had plenty of success, logging 1,000-plus receiving yards in each of the last two seasons. Last year, he had a career-high 1,342 receiving yards and seven touchdowns.
Adams' first season with 1,000-plus receiving yards didn't come until his fifth year in the league, so Aiyuk has done better in that regard thus far.
One thing that has set Adams apart in the league is his touchdown numbers. He's led the league in receiving touchdowns twice and is already 12th all-time in receiving touchdowns with 95.
Aiyuk has yet to surpass 10-plus touchdowns in a single season, but he could start to find the endzone more as he continues to grow as a player.
The 49ers clearly think highly of Aiyuk considering the contract they gave him makes him tied with Tyreek Hill for the fifth-highest paid receiver annually. The only players who will make more than Aiyuk in 2024 will be Justin Jefferson, CeeDee Lamb, A.J. Brown and Amon-Ra St. Brown.
It took San Francisco most of the offseason to finally find a deal for Aiyuk, but now that the 49ers have extended him, they'll hope his career continues to pan out well.
