Adam Sandler Reveals 'Happy Gilmore 2' Plot, Discusses Travis Kelce Cameo
More than three months after Netflix first announced Happy Gilmore 2 was going to happen, star Adam Sandler is offering details about the project with one of the celebrities set to make a cameo appearance.
On the latest episode of the New Heights podcast (starts at 1:05:00 mark), Sandler explained Happy is "a bit of a mess" to start the movie and they "try to get his life cooking again."
Sandler previously said on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon that Travis Kelce would have a cameo appearance in the movie.
While speaking to Travis and Jason Kelce on the podcast, Sandler revealed the Kansas City Chiefs star will be in a scene with "so many great golfers."
Sandler said on The Tonight Show the movie was getting ready to start production in a couple of weeks. Netflix has yet to announce an official release date for the project.
The movie is being co-written by Sandler and Tim Herlihy, who also wrote the 1996 original. Happy Gilmore ended with the titular character winning the Tour Championship to win back his grandmother's house after Shooter McGavin bought it at an auction when it was repossessed by the IRS because she didn't pay her taxes.
Kelce will make his acting debut—not including the 127 national television commercials he is in—in the upcoming FX series Grotesquerie from co-creator Ryan Murphy. The show premieres on Sept. 25.
