Cowboys' CeeDee Lamb: 'No Doubt' Dak Gets New Contract, Let's 'Kill The Speculation'

Paul KasabianAug 27, 2024

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, who is now the proud owner of a four-year, $136 million deal, doesn't appear to have any doubts that quarterback Dak Prescott will get a new contract with the team as well.

Jon Machota of The Athletic relayed remarks from Lamb following the team's practice Tuesday.

"You look at our numbers together, they're at the top of the charts," Lamb said. "I have no doubt that they're gonna get a deal done. We all know that I want Dak here. Jerry [Jones] wants Dak here too, so let's just get this under control and kill the speculation."

Prescott is entering the final season of a four-year, $160 million contract. At this moment, the Cowboys are a week-and-a-half out from a Sept. 8 season opener against the Cleveland Browns with their quarterback on an expiring deal, which isn't the most ideal of situations.

But there appears to be optimism in the air.

The Athletic's Dianna Russini said on the Scoop City podcast (beginning at 5:40 mark) that conversations between Dallas and Prescott are "going really well," although the two sides aren't speaking every day. The two sides also don't have a set deadline to get a deal done before cutting off talks.

Lamb is certainly right about the numbers. He just caught 135 passes for 1,749 yards and 12 touchdowns, while Prescott led the NFL with 36 touchdown tosses to go along with 4,516 passing yards.

Dallas has won 12 straight games each of the past three years but only has one playoff win to show for it. Still, the offense has been on fire, leading the NFL in scoring in 2021 and 2023.

So it would probably behoove the Cowboys to get something done, and it appears that's the direction things are headed. Lamb seems confident, at least, that his quarterback will be around for the foreseeable future.
