NFL Trade Rumors: Seahawks Land LB Trevis Gipson; Jaguars Get Late-Round Draft Pick
The Seattle Seahawks acquired linebacker Trevis Gipson in a trade with the Jacksonville Jaguars on Monday, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Per Rapoport, the Jaguars received a "late-round" draft pick in return.
Gipson spent the 2023 season with the Tennessee Titans, recording six tackles and one sack throughout eight appearances. The former fifth-round pick in the 2020 NFL draft signed a one-year deal to join Jacksonville as a free agent on March 18.

Gipson spent the first three years of his career with the Chicago Bears, accumulating 19 total starts. After operating on special teams for most of his rookie season, he earned a larger role on the Bears' defense in his second year and looked impressive.
He appeared in 16 games during his sophomore campaign in 2021, racking up 39 tackles and seven sacks to go along with five forced fumbles.
Gipson wasn't able to maintain a similar level of production the following season as the Bears switched from a 3-4 to a 4-3 defense.
With the trade occurring before Tuesday's 53-man roster deadline, he likely wasn't a strong candidate to earn a spot on Jacksonville's regular-season roster.
Gipson should serve as a depth option for the Seahawks after outside linebacker Uchenna Nwosu left in the first quarter of their preseason victory over the Cleveland Browns with a knee injury on Saturday.
Seattle's linebacker room has experienced several changes throughout the preseason, as the team traded Darrell Taylor to the Chicago Bears on Friday. The Seahawks also acquired rookie linebacker Michael Barrett in a separate deal with the Carolina Panthers on Tuesday.
Gipson will now join a Seattle defense that's looking to improve in 2024 after allowing the third-most yards per game among all NFL teams last season.
