Updated WWE Bash in Berlin 2024 Match Card Predictions Before Go-Home Raw

Erik BeastonAug 26, 2024

WWE rolls into Germany on Saturday for Bash in Berlin, its latest international premium live event.

The show, headlined by Gunther defending the World Heavyweight Championship against Randy Orton, will set the stage for the weeks to come on WWE TV.

Featuring an undercard that includes WWE champion Cody Rhodes defending against Kevin Owens, a hotly anticipated mixed tag match and the latest chapter in the CM Punk-Drew McIntyre saga, it figures to continue the company's hot streak here in 2024.

Who will emerge victorious from each of the advertised matches? Find out with these predictions for the entire card ahead of Monday's go-home edition of WWE Raw.

Undisputed WWE Championship: Cody Rhodes vs. Kevin Owens

1 of 5

Cody Rhodes offered his friend, Kevin Owens, a shot at the Undisputed WWE Championship at Bash in Berlin. Despite an initial hesitation on the part of The Prizefighter, who did not believe he had earned the opportunity, the match was announced for the premium live event.

Friday on SmackDown, a video package aired reminding fans of the many times KO has betrayed his friends. And in the closing moments of the broadcast, the new No. 1 contender teased blasting The American Nightmare with the WWE title belt only to hand it to him.

It remains to be seen if a further wedge is driven between the two on Friday's go-home edition of SmackDown, but as it stands, it will be a rare battle of babyfaces for the top prize in the company.

Owens is a perennial main event guy and championship contender. The fans love him and he makes them believe in him, something only a handful of performers on the roster can. He doesn't need to win in Berlin, and he hasn't been built enough in such a short period to be the guy to dethrone Rhodes.

The match will be great and both are master storytellers, so the narrative will be easy to invest in. Maybe we see a heel turn for Owens, but it feels more likely that things stay as they are with his character and he falls just short of winning the title.

That outcome allows for the continuation of the story or for the two Superstars to remain friends and committed to battling the other heels on the SmackDown roster.

Prediction: Rhodes narrowly outlasts Owens

Women's Tag Team Championship: Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair vs. Unholy Union

2 of 5

The women's tag team division has heated up recently, with Damage CTRL, Pure Fusion Collective and former champions Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair all chasing current titleholders Isla Dawn and Alba Fyre.

In Berlin, the chase ends for Cargill and Belair as they challenge the Unholy Union for the titles they lost in a three-way dance at Clash at the Castle in Glasgow, Scotland in June.

The heel champions have been great as the antagonists once WWE Creative remembered they were the champions and gave them something to do. They have great energy, are snarky and can back it up in the ring.

Unfortunately, it feels like they are a means to an end.

Fyre and Dawn had a great victory in their home nation and have been a spark for the tag team division.

However, the endgame is Saturday in Berlin, where Cargill and Belair regain the titles in what will likely be the only title change on the card.

Prediction: Belair and Cargill regain the titles

Leather Strap Match: CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre

3 of 5

CM Punk's loss to Drew McIntyre at SummerSlam was but the latest chapter in a lengthy story that will write its latest in Berlin, as the rivals do battle in a strap match.

It will be a hard-hitting, physical bout that sees both competitors' bodies marked with welts and cuts, all courtesy of the titular weapon.

McIntyre will punish Punk, the Chicago native will fight from underneath and unlike SummerSlam, where Seth Rollins factored heavily into the outcome, the babyface will leave Berlin with a victory.

That will likely set up a rubber match between the two, possibly on October 5 at Bad Blood in Atlanta, where they will settle their differences once and for all.

Maybe that could be inside Hell in a Cell, a fitting match for the return of a pay-per-view that originated in October 1997 with the same main event match-type.

Prediction: Punk outlasts McIntyre

Mixed Tag Match: Damian Priest and Rhea Ripley vs. Liv Morgan and Dominik Mysterio

4 of 5

It is far too early in this story for Rhea Ripley and Damian Priest to get their revenge against The Judgment Day by defeating Liv Morgan and Dominik Mysterio in Berlin.

Taking that element out of the equation, there is one major reason that will not happen next Saturday: Finn Balor.

The new Judgment Day leader still has plenty of opportunities to make life rough for Damian Priest, against whom he will likely compete at one of WWE's major PLEs sometime between now and WrestleMania 41.

What better way for the Irishman to continue to antagonize a guy he was once tag team partners with than by costing him a measure of revenge?

Priest and Ripley will get their retribution, but it won't be in Germany.

Mysterio and Morgan win and become even more insufferable villains for our heroes to chase.

Prediction: Mysterio and Morgan win

World Heavyweight Championship: Randy Orton vs. Gunther

5 of 5

Bash in Berlin has been built around Gunther from the moment it was announced.

The Ring General is fresh off winning the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam and has been protected creatively.

There is no chance he rolls into this event and loses the world title in his first defense, regardless of which future Hall of Famer he is defending against.

Randy Orton is one of the greatest of all time, and this is his best version, but he is there to definitively put over Gunther as the champion on Monday nights. He will, too. The Viper is bulletproof and will bounce back the first time he drops a fool with the RKO.

Beating him still means something and as the first challenger to fall at the feet of The Ring General, he will be instrumental in establishing Gunther and his reign on the flagship show.

Expect a great match between two masters of the mat, but The Ring General will emerge victorious and advance to his next championship program.

Prediction: Gunther retains
