Women's British Open 2024: Lydia Ko Tops Leaderboard to Win 3rd Career LPGA Major

Lydia Ko is having quite the month.

The New Zealand golfer took home the victory at the AIG Women's Open Championship at St. Andrews on Sunday, finishing with a score of seven-under. This came after she earned Olympic Gold at the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics just a few weeks before.

This was Ko's third-ever major championship and her first since 2016. This was her first time winning the AIG Women's Open and she now has three of the five majors towards a career grand slam.

She won by two strokes, with four golfers tying for second at five-under. Here's a look at the final standings.

1. Lydia Ko, -7

T2. Jiyai Shin, Lilia Vu, Nelly Korda and Ruoning Yin, -5

6. Ariya Jutanugarin, -3

T7. Casandra Alexander, Mao Saigo and Akie Iwai, -2

T10. Alexa Pano, Jinhee Im, Lottie Woad, Pajaree Anannarukarn, Linn Grant, Nanna Koerstz Madsen and Angel Yin, -1.

Ko shot a 69 on the final day, which was her best round of the tournament. She did not enter Sunday as the leader but outplayed the others at the top of the leaderboard to seal the victory.

She hit a birdie on the fourth, 10th, 14th and 18th holes while she bogeyed the 15th hole.

Korda also hit four birdies but also hit bogies on six and 17 and hit a double on 14.

The next tournament on the LPGA slate is set for next week at TPC Boston. The FM Championship will take place Aug. 29-Sept. 1 and will have a purse of $3.8 million.
