Eric BowmanJun 1, 2018

The bad news continues to pour in for the Pittsburgh Steelers, as running backs coach Kirby Wilson was sent to the hospital after a house fire on Friday morning.

WPXI in Pittsburgh reports that Wilson suffered burns on his arms and legs, and he will not travel with the team for its game against the Denver Broncos this Sunday.

Firefighters said the the fire broke out around 3 a.m. Friday morning in Wilson's kitchen, and Wilson suffered "moderate to severe" burns.

Thankfully, his neighbors were able to smell the smoke and ended up calling 911.

Steelers President Art Rooney issued a statement about this tragic incident.

"

First and foremost, our thoughts and prayers are with Kirby and his entire family. We are saddened to hear about this unfortunate situation but we know that he has the best medical care in the country treating him. The entire organization is praying for Kirby to have a full recovery, and we will be by his side through this difficult time.

"

Wilson, who is 50 years old, has been with the Steelers for five years now. He started in 2007, when Mike Tomlin was made head coach.

He previously held jobs with the Arizona Cardinals, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, USC Trojans, New England Patriots and Washington Redskins

Running backs coach was the primary position Wilson held with these teams.

We wish Wilson well in his recovery.
