BMW Championship 2024: 3 Instant Reactions to Saturday Leaderboard Scores

Andrew PetersAug 24, 2024

After three rounds of the BMW Championship, Keegan Bradley sits at the top of the leaderboard.

But he'll still need a strong day of golf, as Adam Scott trails him by just one stroke, and Alex Noren and Ludvig Åberg sit just two strokes behind him.

While those four golfers are feeling good after Round 3, others are likely just ready for the weekend to be over. Scottie Scheffler is among those golfers, as he's carded a one-over-par and sits in 35th place.

While Scheffler has struggled over the weekend, his Tour Championship standing won't suffer too much and he should be able to shake off a rough performance.

It hasn't been the most memorable 2024 season for Keegan Bradley, but the 38-year-old has played well at the BMW Championship and is now eyeing his first win of the season.

And his first win of the year could come at the perfect time as golfers on the PGA Tour fight to improve their playoff standings.

Bradley carded six birdies to finish the first round at six-under par 72 on Thursday. He added five more birdies on Friday to score a four-under-par and head into Saturday with plenty of momentum.

While he's still a strong day of gold away from winning the BMW Championship, he's projected to be ranked fourth in the FedEx Cup Playoffs and Eligibility Points List, up 46 spots from his current ranking.

Adam Scott carded nine birdies on Friday to record a nine-under-par in Round 2.

The tremendous day gave Scott the Castle Pines Golf Club record and bumped him up to the top of the leaderboard. He also saw his projected FedEx Cup ranking soar from 41st to fourth.

Things didn't go as well for Scott on Saturday.

He carded a pair of bogeys and a double bogey on the front nine before cleaning things up on the back nine with three birdies and just one bogey. Scott recorded a two-over-par in Round 3 to bring his score to 11-under par, losing the lead to Keegan Bradley.

But because of the record day on Friday, Scott can head into Sunday well within striking distance of Bradley as he looks to get his first win of the season.

Scottie Scheffler became a little more relatable to the average golfer on Saturday.

The world No. 1 let his frustrations boil over on the 10th hole after his shot missed the green.

"How is that possible?" Scheffler asked his Caddie. "How? How? How is that possible?"

It was that kind of day for Scheffler, who had four bogeys to finish two-over-par on Saturday.

In Round 1 on Thursday, Scheffler was one-under-par after carding three birdies and a pair of bogeys. He struggled on Friday, recording three bogeys and a double bogey, and Saturday wasn't much better.

Scheffler will now head into the final round likely out of reach of a win at one-over-par. It's certainly not the end of the world for Scheffler, as he's still projected to be first in the FedEx Cup standings, but he'll look to clean things up on Sunday to regain his composure heading into the rest of the season.
