Video: NFL Legend Ed Reed Speaks to Deion Sanders' Colorado Before 2024 CFB Season

Andrew PetersAug 22, 2024

Ahead of the 2024 season, Deion Sanders and Colorado's football program got an inspiring message from an NFL legend.

Hall of Fame safety Ed Reed was in Boulder on Thursday to get the Buffaloes hyped before a long season ahead.

"Football is war. Y'all are an army," Reed said (14:20 mark). "You know that right? Do you really know that? It's war. Violent, physical... Your mind's got to be right. You have to be physically ready to play this game. You can't be tired. You got to have the energy to go out there today and do this thing the right way. That means you've got to recover the night before, that means you've got to do it again the next day, the next play, the next week."

The Buffs could learn a thing or two from Reed, who tallied 644 tackles, 64 interceptions and seven touchdowns across his 12-year NFL career.

Colorado is coming off a disappointing start to the Sanders era in 2023. The Buffaloes showed promise through the first three games, beating TCU, Nebraska and Colorado State to begin the season 3-0, but quickly collapsed to finish the year 4-8.

Sanders and his staff reloaded this offseason, adding a talented recruiting class and some outstanding players from the transfer portal. According to 247Sports, Colorado has the eighth-ranked transfer class in the country.

The Buffs will begin their quest to turn things around next Thursday when they take on North Dakota State.
