Little League World Series 2024: Final Scores, Bracket Results, Thursday Highlights

The United States and International championship game matchups in the 2024 Little League Baseball World Series have been set after conclusion of play Thursday.

Florida defeated Nevada 6-3 and now faces Texas, while Venezuela beat Japan 3-2 and moves onto a matchup with Chinese Taipei.

Venezuela defeats Japan, 3-2

There was no shortage of drama in the showdown between Venezuela and Japan.

After a back-and-forth start to the contest, it seemed like Venezuela was going to cruise to victory when it pushed across three runs in the fourth behind back-to-back triples from Beiker Zarraga and Luis Yepez.

However, Japan battled back with two runs of its own and forced starting pitcher Diego Biarreta from the game.

Yet Jhonson Freitez shined in relief for the victors and allowed a single hit while striking out three in the final three innings. That's not to say there wasn't a scare, though, as Japan put runners on second and third with one out in the sixth inning.

Venezuela then cut down the potential tying run at the plate on a ground ball before Freitez induced a fly out to preserve the 3-2 win.

Next up is a matchup with Chinese Taipei, but Venezuela will surely celebrate Thursday's thrilling win first.

Florida defeats Nevada, 6-3

A four-run first inning and a pair of solo home runs propelled Florida to a 6-3 win over Nevada.

Florida got its first six runners on courtesy of three walks and then three singles. Landon Bono, DeMarcos Mieses and Jacob Bibaud delivered the hits, which accounted for four runs. Mieses smacked a two-RBI single.

Nevada then engineered its own rally after getting its first five runners on base. Oliver Johnson and Noah Letalu hit RBI singles before Parker Soranaka's sacrifice fly made it 4-3.

Florida's power then shone through, as JJ Feliciano hit a solo homer in the third before Garrett Rohozen added another in the sixth.

Nevada kept fighting, though, and got the tying run on base with two outs after a pair of singles. However, a flyout to center field ended the game.

Florida now faces Texas in the U.S. Championship. The two faced each other earlier in the tournament, with Texas winning 4-1.
