Commanders HC Jokes Jayden Daniels Is on 'Double Secret Probation' for Not Sliding
Washington Commanders head coach Dan Quinn made it clear he wants rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels to be more careful when he tucks the ball and runs out of the pocket.
Following Washington's 13-6 preseason loss to the Miami Dolphins, Quinn joked with reporters that Daniels is on "double secret probation" after he didn't slide on a run in the first quarter.

The No. 2 overall pick took a designed running play 13 yards for a first down. However, he immediately turned to the sideline after getting tackled and exchanged words with Quinn.
Learning that discretion is the better part of valor is always an adjustment for young quarterbacks. They can't get away with the same things they did in high school and college, and they pay an even bigger price physically when they try to extend plays.
Daniels in particular left himself susceptible to some big hits in college, and that's not gonna fly in the NFL.
Having a young quarterback better protect himself on the field is a particular concern for the Commanders. None of the important decision-makers are still around from the Robert Griffin III era, but his unexpected brief tenure in the nation's capital probably still hangs over the franchise. Griffin was a revelation as a rookie, only to see a major knee injury derail his career.
Quinn and his staff won't want the same fate to befall Daniels.
