Cowboys' Trey Lance Draws Rave Reviews from NFL Fans in Preseason Win vs. Raiders

Andrew PetersAug 18, 2024

Trey Lance once again proved that he could be a solid backup for the Dallas Cowboys this season.

The quarterback put together another strong showing in a 27-12 preseason win against the Las Vegas Raiders on Saturday. He picked up 151 passing yards and a touchdown on 15-of-23 passing, also adding 36 rushing yards and a touchdown on the ground.

He also finished with no interceptions or sacks, showing some growth in his pocket awareness.

After another solid outing, fans praised Lance as a potential backup to Dak Prescott.

Lance has had a rough start to his NFL career, missing much of his first two seasons due to injury after being drafted No. 3 overall in 2021. When he was traded to Dallas ahead of the 2023 season, it wasn't clear what kind of role he would play.

Lance served as a third-string quarterback last year, but is making a case to replace Cooper Rush as the primary backup. It's unclear what head coach Mike McCarthy will do at this point, but Lance will look to continue proving himself in the coming weeks.
