Tyzhaun Claude Transfers to UNC CBB from Georgia Tech; 4th School in 4 Years

Former Georgia Tech forward Tyzhaun Claude has transferred to North Carolina, his agents told On3's Joe Tipton.

Claude averaged 4.8 points and 5.2 rebounds in 32 games, mostly coming off the bench, last season for the Yellow Jackets.

The move marks the 6-foot-8 senior's third transfer. He began his career with two seasons at Morehead State, then played at Western Carolina for one season before joining Georgia Tech.

He is now slated to join Hubert Davis and the Tar Heels for his final year of NCAA elibility.

Claude played a breakout season for Western Carolina in 2021-22, when he averaged 15.8 points and 8.6 rebounds per game.

The forward is heading into his sixth college season after spending three years at Morehead State. But after missing time early in his career due to injury, the forward received a waiver from the NCAA in order to be eligible to play during the 2024-25 season.

Claude averaged 17.4 minutes per game in the Yellow Jackets' reserves last season.

He shot 49.5 percent from the field with minimal attempts from behind the arc, going 1-for-7 from the three-point line during his senior season.

Claude was most effective at the glass, ranking second on the team with 2.4 offensive rebounds per game.

Having made 102 college appearances and 51 starts, Claude will now bring a veteran presence and offensive rebounding abilities to the Tar Heels' roster.

The addition comes at a good time for the UNC frontcourt, which is undergoing a transformation this offseason following the departure of Armando Bacot for the Utah Jazz.

For now, it looks like UNC's frontcourt will be led by Belmont transfer Cade Tyson and two returning reserve players in Jae'Lyn Withers and Jalen Washington.

Claude is a relatively undersized forward, which will present an obstacle in his fight to earn minutes in Chapel Hill. But if he can lean on his offensive rebounding, he could end up slotting in as a key depth piece for a Tar Heels team in search of a national championship.
