Jake Paul Trolls Conor McGregor for Response to Dana White's UFC Fight Date Comments

Jake Paul continued his war of words with UFC star Conor McGregor after UFC president Dana White declared on Tuesday night that the Irishman won't be fighting this year.

In a now-deleted tweet, McGregor responded to White by pushing for a December fight date. Paul got his digs in by trolling the both of them with a tweet:

McGregor and Paul have traded barbs many times in the past. Just last month, McGregor took a few shots at Paul for his boxing match against Mike Perry and his November bout against Mike Tyson. However, with McGregor's comeback bid put on hold, Paul is the one getting the last laugh.

In his deleted tweet, McGregor wrote, "Ah Dana, December is the date! Bring the calendar year home with a winning event! Come on now, what's this? I am off to altitude next month to prepare. DECEMBER! Tell Dana and UFC WE WANT DECEMBER! WE DESERVE DECEMBER!"

McGregor's expected opponent Michael Chandler also fired back at him after his tweet:

Fans were left disappointed when White announced following this week's episode of Dana White's Contender Series that McGregor is not expected to be back in the Octagon before the end of the year. The 36-year-old was expected to face Chandler at UFC 303 on June 29 before he suffered a broken toe in training that forced him to withdraw from the fight.

McGregor has not fought since he suffered a broken leg in a loss to Dustin Poirier in July 2021. He and Chandler coached against one another during a season of The Ultimate Fighter reality competition series last year and have been expected to face each other ever since. McGregor's continued recovery and his commitments to his feature-film debut in Amazon Prime's Road House caused frequent delays in securing a fight date.

With another delay coming after White's declaration on Tuesday, Chandler has also put his career on hold while waiting for his chance to face McGregor. The 38-year-old hasn't fought since November 2022 when he lost to Poirier, and he recently expressed an openness to moving on from the McGregor bout.

"I am an optimist by default, so I do believe the Conor fight will happen, but right now we are in a period where things are being talked about," he told Lucky Block (h/t Simon Samano of MMA Junkie). "... I love the idea that Conor and I did The Ultimate Fighter, we had a training camp, we signed on the dotted line. But as much as I respect Conor, my legacy is not hinged upon this fight."
