Cowboys' Dak Prescott Says Ankle Is Fine, Will Practice on Tuesday Amid Injury

Andrew PetersAug 11, 2024

After missing practice on Friday due to ankle soreness, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott gave fans reassurance that it's nothing serious.

The star said that his ankle is fine and will be back at practice on Tuesday "one thousand percent," per ESPN's Todd Archer.

Prescott also did not play in the Cowboys' preseason game against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, though it's not clear whether that was due to ankle soreness.

According to Archer, Prescott briefly wore a walking boot in July after suffering a right foot sprain in workouts. The soreness that forced him to miss practice on Friday was separate from that injury and is not considered serious.

Prescott not playing in Sunday's preseason game likely had little to do with his ankle soreness. It's rare for the ninth-year veteran to appear in preseason games, as the last time he played in one was in 2019.

Now he'll look to put the ankle soreness behind him and continue preparations for what he hopes will be another big year. Prescott is coming off an MVP-caliber season that saw him record 4,516 passing yards and a league-leading 36 touchdowns.

Though it was arguably the best season of his career, the Cowboys still failed to find postseason success. Dallas finished the season 12-5 but fell short in its wild-card matchup against the Green Bay Packers.

If Prescott can put together another MVP-worthy season, perhaps things will work out better for the Cowboys in 2024.
