NFL Rumors: Falcons' Bralen Trice Out for Season After Torn ACL Injury in Preseason

Andrew PetersAug 11, 2024

The Atlanta Falcons will be without one of their defensive rookies for the entirety of the 2024 season.

Per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, outside linebacker Bralen Trice suffered a season-ending torn ACL during the Falcons preseason game against the Miami Dolphins on Friday. Trice had been playing with the first team and picked up a tackle in Friday's game.

The Washington standout was a third-round pick in the 2024 NFL draft.

Trice, who spent three seasons at Washington, had 101 tackles and 18 sacks during his time with the Huskies. In his final year in 2023, he had 49 tackles and seven sacks along with a forced fumble.

The 23-year-old appeared to be ready to make an impact for the Falcons immediately, but will instead have to rehab and hope to have a strong year in 2025.

It's been an unlucky start to the 2024 season for Atlanta in terms of injuries. Along with Trice, the Falcons will be without wide receiver Rondale Moore, who suffered a season-ending knee injury in practice, and safety DeMarcco Hellams, who suffered a leg injury on Friday, though his status is not yet known.

Moore was gearing up for his fourth NFL season and first with the Falcons after recording 352 receiving yards and a touchdown last year with the Arizona Cardinals. Hellams, a second year player out of Alabama, had 40 tackles in his fist season a year ago.

Atlanta will look to avoid any more serious injuries for the remainder of preseason after losing two key players and potentially a third in Hellams. After the loss to the Dolphins on Friday, the Falcons will take on the Baltimore Ravens on Saturday before closing out the preseason against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Aug. 23.
