Report: Snoop Dogg, Billie Eilish, More to Perform at 2024 Olympics Closing Ceremony
Some major music stars will be on display at the closing ceremony for the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics.
Matt Donnelly of Variety reported that Billie Eilish, Snoop Dogg and the Red Hot Chili Peppers are among the acts that will be performing at the ceremonies.
The artists will be seen in Los Angeles and will be featured in "a mix of pre-taped and live performances." The ceremony will serve as a transition to the 2028 Games, which will be held in Los Angeles.
Eilish is one of the most popular artists in pop music and is a Los Angeles native. She also released a concert film called "Happier Than Ever: A Love Letter to Los Angeles," which shows her appreciation for her native city.
With Eilish representing the new wave of Los Angeles musicians, the Red Hot Chili Peppers represent an older success story from the city. The band got its start in Los Angeles' rock community in the 1980s and has won four Grammys since 1993.
Snoop Dogg is also a natural choice to showcase the transition from Paris to Los Angeles. The Long Beach native and rapper is considered a West Coast icon and one of L.A.'s biggest cultural ambassadors. Additionally, he has had a large presence at the Paris Olympics, including the role of the official U.S. torchbearer.
The 2024 Paris Olympics closing ceremony is scheduled for Sunday at 3 p.m. ET.
