LeBron, Steph, Embiid Hailed by Fans for Team USA's Olympics Comeback Win vs. Serbia
Serbia had the Team USA men's basketball team on the ropes. Stephen Curry provided the lifeline.
The Golden State Warriors superstar had a massive game on Thursday, posting 36 points and eight rebounds and fueling the United States' 95-91 comeback win over Nikola Jokić and Serbia.
Curry had his best game in a Team USA jersey during these Olympics, and he wasn't alone. The much-maligned Joel Embiid was a force in the paint on both ends, posting 19 points, while LeBron James added 16 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists for the Americans.
And the United States needed every last one of those points to overcome a 17-point first-half deficit. Serbia came out on fire, with Bogdan Bogdanović (20 points), Jokić (17 points, 11 assists) and Aleksa Avramović (15 points) putting together fantastic performances.
Serbia gave the United States all it could handle. But thanks to Curry, Embiid and James, the United States are one win away from claiming yet another gold medal.
Kevin Durant discussed the importance of the win after the game:
After the contest, the trio was hailed for the epic performance:
The United States will now face a tough France side led by NBA players in Victor Wembanyama, Rudy Gobert, Evan Fournier and Nic Batum, among others.
But if the United States plays up to its talent, it'll be another gold. Expect another heavy dose of Curry, James, Embiid and Kevin Durant.
