Josh Hines-Allen Jokes About His Wife's Reaction to Confusion over His Name, Bills QB
Jacksonville Jaguars star edge rusher Josh Hines-Allen revealed that his wife played a part in his name change this offseason.
Hines-Allen, who was often referred to as "the other Josh Allen" next to the famed Buffalo Bills quarterback, told The Athletic's Dan Pompei that he and his wife Kaitlyn watched highlights of the Pro Bowl Games and heard the commentator say, "Aidan Hutchinson and Josh … Allen?"
"It was almost like she was confused about who I was," Hines-Allen said.

The commentator wasn't alone, as Kaitlyn discovered that it was difficult to find where her husband's jerseys were being sold. Hines-Allen had already been considering changing his name for "a couple of years," but now his wife "started pushing for it," per Pompei.
The name change for Hines-Allen was announced last month and incorporates his mother Kim's maiden name. While he grew up with the last name Allen, his mother's side of the family was the primary influence in his childhood, so much so that he had the nickname "Little Hines" in his New Jersey neighborhood.
While Hines-Allen is coming off his second selection to the Pro Bowl last season, he's extra motivated to make an even bigger name for himself this year.
