Preview

France advanced to the semifinals before conceding a single goal in these Olympics. Their stingy defense, coupled with an offense that can give them a comfortable lead, has made them the most complete team in this tournament.

Against Egypt, the Les Bleus proved they could come from behind, overcoming a 1-0 deficit to win the game and earn their way to the gold medal game, in front of their fellow countrymen, on the world's grandest stage.

Spain also came from behind to win their semifinal match-up against Morocco.

The home team is the most complete of the two, with its stingy defense being the key to its success. La Roja has leaned on its offense to fuel it but has not been impervious to opponent scoring.

The French have not won Olympic gold since 1984 while Spain is looking to avenge a loss to Brazil in the gold medal match three years ago, meaning the motivation for each is there to deliver the very best performance that they can.

Spain has the offense to do what no other team has done in these games by exploiting the French defense and scoring enough to win, but there is something to be said for Les Bleus competing at home, in front of what should be a raucous crowd.

After being the best team throughout the tournament, expect France to finish the job and celebrate accordingly Friday.
