Davante Adams Talks Minshew-O'Connell Raiders' QB1 Battle; Compares To Aaron Rodgers
Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams does not yet know who the team's starting quarterback will be for Week 1, but he said he's still getting comfortable with both Aidan O'Connell and Gardner Minshew.
"There's pros and cons [to no timeline], but at the end of the day, we get enough reps with both guys and we are all communicating," Adams said, per ESPN's Paul Gutierrez. "We have really open conversations, and we all get reps with all the quarterbacks ... and I'm definitely watching at all times, seeing everything and learning how the ball comes out with Gardner versus Aidan.

"I got my antennas up for everything."
Adams even compared the relationship he has with O'Connell and Minshew to the one he had with Aaron Rodgers, who he caught passes from for eight seasons.
"That's kind of how [Rodgers] and I used to work," he said. "It wasn't just about the reps that we had in practice, but it was about the communication, the film that we watched together, and just going off of time and the different things like that that were equally as important as getting those [reps] on the field."
Though there were frustrations at times, Adams had a solid season in 2023 with 1,1144 receiving yards and eight touchdowns. He'll look to get back to being an All-Pro receiver this season, whether that be alongside O'Connell or Minshew.
O'Connell got plenty of reps as a rookie, recording 2,218 passing yards and 12 touchdowns in 11 games. The addition of Minshew over the offseason means his starting role isn't a guarantee this year, but he could still earn the spot before September.
The Raiders picked up Minshew in free agency after he put together one of his best seasons for the Indianapolis Colts, throwing for 3,305 passing yards and 15 touchdowns.
