WWE Bash in Berlin 2024 Match Card Predictions After SummerSlam Results

Erik BeastonAug 4, 2024

Following a WWE SummerSlam premium live event that saw new champions crowned and some of the top rivalries in the company escalate, the company will now set its sights on its next major production: Bash in Berlin on August 30.

The international event will likely be built around new world heavyweight champion Gunther but who might oppose The Ring General?

What else can fans in Germany expect out of the show, which should have long-reaching effects into the second-half of WWE's 2024?

Find out with these way-too-early predictions for the match card.

WWE SummerSlam 2024 Results

1 of 6

The Biggest Party of the Summer is in the rear view mirror and the results from the premium live event are as follows:

  • Undisputed WWE champion Cody Rhodes def. Solo Sikoa in a Bloodline Rules Match to retain
  • Gunther def. world heavyweight champion Damian Priest to win the title
  • Drew McIntyre def. CM Punk (Seth "Freakin" Rollins as the guest referee)
  • Nia Jax def. WWE women's champion Bayley to win the title
  • LA Knight def. United States champion Logan Paul to win the title
  • Bron Breakker def. intercontinental champion Sami Zayn to win the title
  • Women's world champion Liv Morgan def. Rhea Ripley to retain

WWE Women's Championship Match: Michin vs. Nia Jax

Nia Jax kicks off her reign as WWE women's champion not by defending against the same woman she defeated for the gold in the first place, but by squaring off against another potent challenger in Michin.

We have seen the HBIC impress across NXT and SmackDown in recent months and in the weeks leading into SummerSlam, had befriended Bayley.

Considering that Triple H has mostly avoided running back-to-back rematches featuring the same Superstars, it would seem rather unlikely that he would run back Bayley vs. Jax.

Booking Michin in that spot and giving her the opportunity to have a premium live event match with a title on the line is an effective way to keep things fresh without necessarily taking one's eye off the inevitable rematch between The Irresistible Force and The Role Model.

WWE Tag Team Championship Match: Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton vs. The Bloodline

Forecasting the direction The Bloodline and undisputed WWE champion Cody Rhodes are headed post-SummerSlam is far from simple.

We know Roman Reigns will be involved, based on his return Saturday in Cleveland, but we do not know when or where, with Survivor Series making the most sense.

As of now, The Head of the Table is not featured on any marketing materials for Bash in Berlin and there is no reason to think he is going to make that trip for a show that is going to be primarily focused on world heavyweight champion Gunther.

So where does that leave The Bloodline and Rhodes?

Why not book the two in the same match with the emphasis not only on their ongoing feud but, also, with the potential to plant the seeds for the expected program between The American Nightmare and The Viper?

Orton has subtly eyed up the top prize in the company, and has a rich history with Rhodes, dating back to his time as the second-generation star's mentor. Such a match allows The Bloodline to score a bounce-back victory while The Legend Killer can begin teasing an inevitable showdown with the champion.

Intercontinental Championship Match: Ilja Dragunov vs. Bron Breakker

Bron Breakker defeated Sami Zayn to win his first main roster title, the Intercontinental Championship, Saturday evening. He may not have even had the opportunity to do so had it not been for Ilja Dragunov getting knocked out after a spear into the ring apron.

In Berlin, Dragunov returning to action to challenge one of his greatest rivals, for a title he may very well have won had he not been injured, makes sense.

That he was raised in Germany and established himself as a wrestler in Europe makes him the perfect challenger for a show like Bash in Berlin.

Add to that a feud with Breakker that seemingly intensifies with every passing match-up and you have a match that makes sense and should further set the tone for the young champion's reign.

Damian Priest and Rhea Ripley vs. Dominik Mysterio and Liv Morgan

The Judgment Day changed forever Saturday night in Cleveland with shocking betrayals of Rhea Ripley and Damian Priest by Dominik Mysterio and Finn Balor, respectively.

It makes sense that the first stop in Ripley and Priest's own revenge tour would come in Berlin when they battle Mysterio and women's world champion Liv Morgan in mixed tag team action.

While it would be a mistake for the babyfaces to get their revenge so quickly after the shocking events of SummerSlam, the match would serves as the perfect place for Balor to get another one over on Priest, laying the groundwork for their inevitable one-on-one showdown, either at Badd Blood in Atlanta or Survivor Series: War Games in Vancouver.

The story is hot and WWE should clash while it is hot and capitalize with what would be a red-hot mixed tag match.

World Heavyweight Championship Match: Gunther vs. Drew McIntyre

Drew McIntyre exorcised the demon that is CM Punk with his victory over him at SummerSlam and now, can finally return his attention to capturing the World Heavyweight Championship.

McIntyre defeated Punk after the Chicago native allowed himself to be distracted by outside influences, just as McIntyre had in previous encounters.

What better way for his story to come full circle than for him to attempt to ruin Gunther's homecoming(ish) in the same way that his was at Clash at the Castle?

Add to it the two competitors have a rich history together dating back to their rivalry over the Intercontinental Championship and you have all you need for a match between these two in which Gunther can be the beloved hero and McIntyre the hated heel.

It also sets the tone for The Ring General's reign as champion, letting the world know they can expect hard-hitting, uber-physical showdowns every time the bells rings and the title is up for grabs.
