Lightning Near Eiffel Tower Captured in Viral Photos from 2024 Paris Olympics Day 6

The star athletes weren't the only ones leaving a strong impression in Paris during the 2024 Summer Olympics.

During Thursday's action, the famed Eiffel Tower was surrounded by lightning and was captured in some photos.

The photos show the legendary landmark with the Olympic rings and the natural phenomenon is striking in the background, creating an interesting scene.

The lightning caused evacuations from the 3x3 basketball and beach volleyball courts.

While the phenomenon created quite an amusing sight to look at, it was no danger to the structure itself. The tower has a system in place for lightning strikes, as the charge from the bolt is directed down into the ground and does not harm it or people surrounding the structure.

While the occurrence could be unique to just Day 6, the remaining time in the competition could indicate that some more unique weather patterns could be in store.
