Olympic Swimming 2024: Men's 200M Individual Medley Medal Winners and Times

Leon Marchand won his fourth gold medal of the 2024 Summer Olympics on Friday.

The 22-year-old Frenchman continued to put on a show in front of his home fans in Paris with a gold-medal swim in the men's 200-meter individual medley.

Marchand completed a perfect individual program that included victories in the 200-meter breaststroke, 200-meter butterfly and 400-meter individual medley.

Marchand became the fourth swimmer in Olympic history to win four individual golds in a single Olympics.

Marchand was alone in a race of his own to get the world and Olympic records during his fourth gold-medal swim.

The Frenchman took down Michael Phelps' Olympic record by 17-hundredths of a second. He was six-hundredths off the world record set by Ryan Lochte in 2011.

When he touched the wall, Marchand heard another loud eruption from the crowd inside Paris La Defense Arena. The crowds have lined up around the building each night Marchand has been scheduled to swim.

Marchand is now responsible for four of France's six swimming medals and four of the nation's 10 overall gold medals.

Great Britain's Duncan Scott took the silver medal in a time that was over a second behind Marchand.

China's Wang Shun beat out Carson Foster of the United States for the bronze medal. Foster was one-tenth of a second off the bronze-medal pace.
