Olympic Men's Tennis 2024: Djokovic vs. Alcaraz Final Schedule After Semis Bracket

In his fifth Olympic Games, Novak Djokovic has finally reached the last round.

Despite feeling pain in his surgically repaired knee, the 37-year-old showed few struggles with court movement, defeating Lorenzo Musetti in straight sets on Friday.

Before he can claim gold, though, he must face his biggest nemesis in recent years: Carlos Alcaraz, the Spaniard who has defeated him in back-to-back years at the Wimbledon final.

Their next battle is for more than just bragging rights; indeed, history is on the line.

At 37 years old, Djokovic would become the oldest male Olympic tennis champion. Alcaraz, at 21 years old, would be the youngest male Olympic tennis champion.

Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic will be facing each other for the seventh time (tied 3-3).

The two have split their last four meetings, though Alcaraz has won the most important matches recently, including the 2024 Wimbledon final, where he defeated Djokovic in straight sets.

The 21-year-old has been dominant this year, hoping to become the second player to win the French Open, Wimbledon, and an Olympic gold medal in the same year (Rafael Nadal, 2008).

Meanwhile, Djokovic's year has been shaky—at least by his historic standards.

For the first time since 2017, the Serbian has failed to win a Grand Slam title through the year's first three majors.

Alcaraz is currently in better form, and Djokovic will have to rise to the physical occasion if he hopes to win.

However, considering what's at stake for the 37-year-old, this should make for a quite competitive match.
