Turkish Olympian Yusuf Dikeç Inspires Memes amid Viral Photo in Shooting Competition

Some Olympic athletes emerge as stars by being dominant at their sport. Others are just really cool.

The rare few are both.

Turkish Olympic shooter Yusuf Dikeç joined rarefied air Wednesday when he sparked a meme-fest during his silver medal-winning effort in the air pistol mixed team competition.

In a competition where many athletes use every bit of tech to maximize their performance, Dikeç was completely lo-fi, using only regular seeing glasses and a fully relaxed pose. He and Şevval İlayda Tarhan finished second behind only the Serbian duo of Zorana Arunović and Damir Mikec.

The 51-year-old Dikeç has long been one of the most accomplished shooters in all of Europe, but this is his first Olympic medal.
