Olympic Swimming 2024: Men's 4x200M Freestyle Relay Medal Winners and Times

The United States took second behind Great Britain in the men's 4x200-meter freestyle relay to conclude Tuesday's swimming program.

Great Britain was out in front of the field from the start as it repeated as the winner in the relay event.

The Americans were second behind Team GB for the majority of the race and anchor leg Kieran Smith held off Australia to land the silver medal.

Great Britain's quartet of James Guy, Tom Dean, Matthew Richards and Duncan Scott were the class of the relay field.

Guy, Dean and Richards are produced splits of 1:45 and Scott shredded the field with a 200-meter split of 1:43.95.

Scott's final 200 meters were almost a full second better than the final two laps out of American anchor leg Kieran Smith.

Smith's primary goal in the final 100 meters was to hold off the surge from Australia's Thomas Neill, who came home over a second after the American.

All four of Great Britain's swimmers were on the team that won the gold at the Tokyo Olympics.

The gold was the first in the pool in Paris for Team GB. The Brits earned two silvers in the pool prior to Tuesday's triumph.

The American men finished off a successful night in the pool for Team USA with four overall medals.

The United States now has 15 swimming medals that make up the overall medal haul of 26.

Australia's bronze medal moved it up to 11 total medals, eight of which have been earned in swimming events.
