Ravens' Lamar Jackson Responds to John Harbaugh, Says Tom Brady is NFL's Real GOAT

Doric SamJul 29, 2024

While Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh envisions quarterback Lamar Jackson becoming the greatest player of all time, Jackson knows he has a long way to go before he can match the player who currently holds that title.

When asked about recent comments from Harbaugh, Jackson told reporters on Monday that he believes Tom Brady has earned the distinction of the greatest of all time.

"The G.O.A.T.? I'm not the G.O.A.T.," Jackson said of Harbaugh's hopes he'll become the best ever to play the quarterback position, per Nick Shook of NFL.com. "Tom Brady the G.O.A.T."

Harbaugh revealed his lofty expectations about Jackson's potential while speaking to reporters earlier this month.

"The vision that we have together is that Lamar Jackson is going to become and be known and be recognized as the greatest quarterback ever to play in the history of the National Football League," he said. "It's going to happen by Lamar, his work ethic and his brilliant talent, by all of us pouring into that effort together as a team and by the grace of God and God's goodwill."

Jackson is already a two-time NFL MVP, but he has yet to even play in a Super Bowl. Brady is a seven-time champion, so it will take the 27-year-old quite sometime before he joins that stratosphere.

Harbaugh is hoping that Jackson takes a step in that direction this year, as he said after a recent practice, "He's the best quarterback in football, we believe, and we are determined to prove it."

After falling short of their goal of making the Super Bowl last season, Jackson and the Ravens will be hungry to put forth an even more dominant campaign this year, which could put the signal-caller on the path toward fulfilling Harbaugh's expectations.
