Fantasy Football 2024: Early Cheatsheet for Choosing Best Team Names

Zach BuckleyJul 30, 2024

The 2024 NFL season is creeping closer by the second.

Do you know what you're naming your fantasy football team yet?

It might feel like a frivolous decision to some, but this is your chance to brand your team and hopefully draw at least a few chuckles and half-smiles out of your league mates.

If your creative juices aren't flowing yet, we'll walk you through some team name options based on which player you plan to craft a club name around.

The Rookies

Rookies are the proverbial shiny, new objects of the fantasy football world.

And you don't have to play in a dynasty league to appreciate their mystery-box appeal. With nothing on the stat sheet yet, the possibilities of what their futures could hold are endless.

If you want to get a piece of this rookie class, you might be excited enough about their potential to build your team name around them. Here are some options to consider.

  • Marvin Harrison Jr., WR, Arizona Cardinals: Marvin The Martian
  • Malik Nabers, WR, New York Giants: Won't You Be My Nabers
  • Rome Odunze, WR, Chicago Bears: Rome Wasn't Built in a Day
  • Caleb Williams, QB, Chicago Bears: Lisan Al-Caleb
  • Brock Bowers, TE, Las Vegas Raiders: Lean Wit It, Brock Wit It

Nailing your first-round pick hardly guarantees a fantasy title.

Whiffing on it, though, is effectively writing your own obituary.

These are the players you are building your roster around. These are the ones you are expecting to lead you to victory week after week.

These are also ones you could consider naming your team after, so let's find a fantasy name for each of the top 10 picks using consensus average draft position (ADP) from FantasyPros.

  1. Christian McCaffrey, RB, San Francisco 49ers: Born Again Christian
  2. CeeDee Lamb, WR, Dallas Cowboys: CeeDee Burner
  3. Tyreek Hill, WR, Miami Dolphins: Tyreek Down Hill

Much like their real-life counterparts, fantasy quarterbacks can go a long way toward determining their team's success.

You don't necessarily need a great one, which is why so many fantasy experts will tell you to wait at the position. You do need a really good one, though, to keep up with the competition at the position.

Given their importance, then, you may opt to name your team after its QB1. If you go that route, here are options for the top 10 quarterbacks by ADP.

  1. Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills: Joshin' Around
  2. Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs: Country Roads, Take Mahomes
  3. Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia Eagles: Hurts So Good
  4. Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens: Lamar You Serious?
  5. C.J. Stroud, Houston Texans: Stroudy With a Chance of Deep Balls
  6. Anthony Richardson, Indianapolis Colts: AFC Richardson
  7. Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals: Can I Burrow a Feeling?
  8. Kyler Murray, Arizona Cardinals: Natural Born Kylers
  9. Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys: Good Kid, D.A.K. City
  10. Jordan Love, Green Bay Packers: Everybody Love Everybody
