Stephen Jones: CeeDee Lamb, Dak Prescott Got New Cowboys Contract Offers amid Rumors

The Dallas Cowboys are upping their efforts to sign both CeeDee Lamb and Dak Prescott to contract extensions.

Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones told NFL Network's Jane Slater they sent a new offer to Lamb on Friday and they've had good conversations with his camp.

Terms of the offer were not revealed, nor is there any indication if Lamb will accept the deal.

Jones also said Prescott has received a new offer recently, via Nick Eatman of the team's official site.

"Right now, I would characterize both conversations as upbeat," Jones said. "We're having good talks back and forth with both Todd (France) and Tory (Dandy). I like we're we stand."

The Athletic's Dianna Russini said on the latest episode of the Scoop City podcast (starts at 13:30 mark) that this situation between Lamb and the Cowboys could take weeks to resolve.

Earlier this week, Jones said that both Lamb and Micah Parsons "believe they should be the highest-paid non-quarterback in the league."

This doesn't necessarily mean that Lamb or Parsons will only accept a deal that makes them the highest-paid non-quarterback, but that does set a ceiling for the Cowboys to work with.

San Francisco 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa is currently the highest-paid non-quarterback by total value at $170 million over five years. Minnesota Vikings star Justin Jefferson has the highest average annual salary among non-quarterbacks at $35 million per season.

The Cowboys' situation is complicated by the fact that not only are Lamb and Parsons looking for new deals, but Prescott is also entering the final season of his contract and can't be designated with the franchise tag next offseason.

Parsons has two years remaining on his rookie deal, so the team can be patient with his contract.

Lamb, who is owed $18 million this season in the final year of his rookie contract, is looking to cash in coming off an outstanding 2023. He was the first Cowboys receiver to be an All-Pro first-team selection since Dez Bryant in 2014.

The 25-year-old led the league with 135 receptions, finished second with 1,739 receiving yards and third with 12 touchdown catches.

Prescott was second-team All-Pro last year after totaling 4,516 passing yards and a league-high 36 touchdown passes.
