American track and field star Chari Hawkins may have already had the coolest moment of the 2024 Olympics.
Hawkins posted a picture of herself with LeBron James from the opening ceremony as members of the U.S. Olympic delegation next to another one she took with the NBA superstar from when he was in high school and she was in middle school.

The first picture was taken in 2002 when James was 17 and going into his final year at St. Vincent–St. Mary High School before becoming the No. 1 pick in the 2003 NBA draft.
Hawkins turned 11 in 2002. She was born and raised in Rexburg, Idaho, and was the youngest of five children.
After moving on from middle school to high school, Hawkins was a three-sport athlete in track and field, basketball and volleyball. She attended college at Utah State from 2011 to 2015, earning second-team All-American honors in each of her final three seasons on the track and field team.
Hawkins is making her first Olympic appearance at the Paris Games. She qualified after racking up 6,456 points in the heptathlon at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials in June. Her point total ranked second, trailing only Anna Hall (6,614).
Hawkins noted she set personal bests in the shot put, javelin and 800 meters during the Time Trials. The women's heptathlon takes place in Paris from Aug. 8-9.
James—the U.S. flag bearer, along with Coco Gauff—and the United States men's basketball team will play their first game against Serbia on Sunday.
