Draymond Green Trolls Klay Thompson, Says Wearing No. 31 with Mavs Is 'Disgusting'
Draymond Green is not a fan of Klay Thompson's new number.
The Golden State Warriors veteran gave his thoughts on Thompson, now a member of the Dallas Mavericks, wearing No. 31.
"It's disgusting, it's nasty," Green said on Club 520 Podcast (35:00 mark). "Somebody said to me, 'Yo, 31, that's Reggie Miller's number.' And I said, 'Yeah, but he's Klay Thompson.'"
While trolling Thompson's new number, Green tossed a playful barb at former Warriors center Festus Ezeli, who also wore No. 31.
"Festus tried to go at me on Instagram, like, 'What's wrong with 31?' ...You wore it," Green said.
Only a handful of notable players have rocked a No. 31 jersey, including Miller and Shawn Marion—who donned it with the Phoenix Suns before joining the Mavs.
Now, as he suits up for the Mavericks, Thompson will look to make the number iconic.
Thompson joined Dallas in early July via a sign-and-trade that will pay him $50 million over the next three years. His departure from the Warriors ended a 13-year run that saw the group win four NBA titles, the latest coming in 2022.
