Snoop Dogg to Carry Olympic Torch Ahead of 2024 Opening Ceremony
Legendary rapper Snoop Dogg will be among the torchbearers for United States at the 2024 Summer Olympics.
The 52-year-old will carry the torch through the Parisian suburb of Saint-Denis, Mayor Mathieu Hanotin announced on X:
Snoop Dogg is also set to be a contributor to NBC's coverage of the Olympic Games. It's unclear what level of integration he'll have over the weeks in Paris, but Snoop is no stranger to the sports world.
Snoop has long been involved in youth football, serving as the head coach of his son Cordell's teams when he was growing up. His Snoop Youth Football League is one of the most successful in his native California.
The IOC is yet to announce who will ultimately light the cauldron during Friday's opening ceremonies. French actress Laetitia Casta and French rapper MC Solaar will also be among those carrying the torch in Saint-Denis.
Basketball star LeBron James will serve as the United States' men's flag-bearer for the 2024 Summer Games. The U.S. is expected to announce the female flag-bearer Tuesday.
