NFL Rumors: Dolphins Host Yannick Ngakoue amid Ogbah Buzz, Shaq Barrett Retirement
The Miami Dolphins are reportedly looking at multiple pass-rushers.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported Monday that Miami hosted free agents Yannick Ngakoue and Emmanuel Ogbah for tryouts ahead of the start of training camp. The AFC East team could use another effective edge-rusher after Shaquil Barrett announced his retirement Saturday.
That there would be some interest in Ogbah isn't particularly surprising given the familiarity in place.

Colts Release Kenny Moore

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮
After all, he played for the Dolphins for the last four seasons and notched a combined 18 sacks in 2020 and 2021. Still, he had just 6.5 total sacks the last two years and was released by the team in February.
Ngakoue is also someone who would be looking to bounce back and resemble an earlier version of himself if he signed with Miami.
He was a Pro Bowler in 2017 with the Jacksonville Jaguars with 12 sacks and a league-best six forced fumbles. He also finished with at least eight sacks in each of his first seven seasons in the league, which saw him suit up for the Jaguars, Minnesota Vikings, Baltimore Ravens, Las Vegas Raiders and Indianapolis Colts.
However, he did not live up to expectations last season with the Chicago Bears and posted a career-worst four sacks in 13 games.
The 29-year-old remains unsigned well into the offseason, although he could provide proven depth for the Dolphins or any other interested team heading into the season.
Still, this wasn't the plan for Miami considering it signed Barrett this offseason with the hope he would bolster the pass rush.
The two-time Pro Bowler and two-time Super Bowl champion led the NFL with 19.5 sacks in 2019 as a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and was a headline addition even if he hasn't been that effective in recent years.
Yet he chose to retire with the season approaching, which has sent the Dolphins looking for late free-agent additions.
