Jordan Brand Unveils Air Jordan 39 Sneakers in Photos; Release Date, Price Announced
Another installment of Air Jordans is set to hit stores next week.
On Thursday, Jordan Brand unveiled the Air Jordan 39 with photos on social media. The famed sneakers will be released on July 23 and will be sold for a retail price of $200:
Per House of Heat, the Air Jordan 39 was "crafted under the discerning eye of Michael Jordan himself" and "received unprecedented direct input from the basketball legend."
The design of the latest Air Jordans is a slight departure from previous editions, as it was put together with the evolution of Jordan's skills over the course of his career in mind.
"The Air Jordan 39 shifts focus from the brand's traditional emphasis on aerial dynamics to the more grounded, strategic movements prevalent in today's game," House of Heat stated. "This pivot is inspired by Jordan's efficient on-court footwork, particularly his signature cross-step, which has influenced generations of players."
Bennett Shaw, Jordan Brand's director of sport footwear, explained the simplistic thinking behind the Air Jordan 39 to Brendan Dunne of Complex in April.
"The past has been very overbuilt and overdone, and obviously we see the comments and the things we get called out for that," Shaw said. "Just getting back to the basics is something that we pressed heavy on this one."
The release of the Air Jordan 39 will feature nine colorways, starting with the "Sol" colorway on July 23 which features a white base with a red logo. The "Lumiere" colorway will follow on Aug. 6 with a black and white design.
