Stroud is listed at +850 to take home his first MVP. He's the second favorite behind Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who is an overwhelming favorite at +475.
2024 NFL MVP Odds (via DraftKings)
- Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes (+475)
- Houston Texans QB C.J. Stroud (+850)
- Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen (+900)
- Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow (+900)
- Green Bay Packers QB Jordan Love (+1400)
- Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson (+1400)
Only five players since the AFL-NFL merger have won the MVP in their second season. Lamar Jackson was the most recent in 2019, with Mahomes pulling off the feat a year prior. Kurt Warner (1999), Dan Marino (1984) and Earl Campbell (1979) were the others.
Stroud is coming off one of the best rookie seasons for a quarterback in NFL history. He threw for 4,108 yards and 23 touchdowns against five interceptions, leading the Texans to an AFC South championship and an appearance in the Divisional Round.
Houston spent the offseason continuing to load up its roster around Stroud, trading for wide receiver Stefon Diggs and running back Joe Mixon. On paper, the Texans have one of the premier offenses in the NFL, with Diggs and Mixon joining a skill-position group that includes Pro Bowl receiver Nico Collins, promising second-year deep threat Tank Dell and tight end Dalton Schultz.
The Texans are currently 16-1 at DraftKings to win the Super Bowl.
