Roof of Texans' NRG Stadium Damaged by Hurricane Beryl

The retractable roof of the Houston Texans' NRG Stadium suffered damage after the Monday landfall of Hurricane Beryl.

Aerial video provided by the Associated Press appeared to show several missing panels, through one of which the field below can be seen.

The storm made landfall as a Category 1 hurricane with winds of over 80 mph. It has been connected to at least 10 deaths in Texas and Louisiana, per Fox 4 News.

Ryan Walsh, CEO of the Harris County Sports & Convention Corporation (HCSCC) that manages and operates NRG Park, said in a statement (h/t NBC Sports) that the group is "assessing the extent of damages to NRG Park facilities."

"We look forward to seeing our neighbors at NRG Park soon as we return to normal operations," Walsh said.

The Texans' home stadium previously suffered damage in 2008 when Hurricane Ike made landfall in Galveston.

The 2008 storm resulted in pieces being torn off the roof and debris landing on the field of the stadium, according to a New York Daily News report.

The result was $10 million in renovations, including $4 million toward the roof, as well as a delay of the Texans' home opener.

This time, NRG Stadium is not set to host the Texans until their Aug. 17 preseason home opener. The first home game of the regular season is set to take place Sept. 15.

NRG Stadium does have other events set to take place over the coming weeks, including concerts by Zach Bryan and Luke Combs as well as a Leagues Cup group-stage game between the Liga MX's Tigres and MLS's Inter Miami CF on August 3.

The Houston Astros' Minute Maid Park was minimally damaged in the storm and will host the Miami Marlins on Tuesday night, Matt Young reported for the Houston Chronicle.
