Cowboys' CeeDee Lamb Won't Answer Contract Questions at Youth Football Camp

Julia StumbaughJul 8, 2024

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb says he will not be answering any questions about his ongoing contract negotiations during the youth football camp he is hosting in Round Rock starting July 9.

"You'll get 0 answers. It's about the kids," Lamb wrote on X.

Lamb is currently set to play the 2024 season at a base salary of $18 million, but Calvin Watkins of The Dallas Morning News reported that the All-Pro receiver is expected to miss Cowboys training camp unless he is offered an extension.

Lamb will be in attendance at the camp, which is open to girls and boys ages 6 to 16 and will feature lectures, skills lessons, and contests.

Watkins also reported that there had been "little progress" on contract negotiations with Lamb or quarterback Dak Prescott, who is also currently set to play the 2024 season on an expiring contract, as of June 27.

Lamb led the NFL with 135 receptions last year for a career-high 1,749 yards and 12 touchdowns in the first All-Pro campaign of his NFL career. He added nine catches and 110 yards in the Cowboys' Wild Card loss to the Green Bay Packers.

Minnesota Vikings star Justin Jefferson reset the wide receiver market at the beginning of June by inking a four-year, $140 million deal.

Jefferson's deal offered $110 million, a new record for wide receivers, and likely complicated negotiations for a player who said in January that he "ideally" would like to be the highest-paid wideout in the NFL (h/t the Dallas Morning News' Michael Gehlken.)

Lamb has not publicly spoken on how contract negotiations with the Cowboys are going since the Jefferson contract and his absence from the team's mandatory minicamp in June, and it sounds like that is not set to change this week.

Fans may need to wait until July 24 to get any official update on Lamb's contract negotiations. That's when the Cowboys are set to hold their opening press conference ahead of the first practice of training camp.
