LeBron James: 'Dream Come True' to Play with Bronny on Lakers After 2024 NBA Draft
LeBron James is excited to play with a familiar new teammate.
The 20-time All-Star is set to form the first father-son duo in NBA history in 2024-25 when he and his son Bronny lace up for the Los Angeles Lakers. When asked about the opportunity, James said it was something he hoped for and seeing it come to fruition has been incredible.

"It's a dream come true," James told reporters. "... All of our family still don't even have enough words to explain the feeling that we had."
The Lakers selected Bronny James with the No. 55 pick in the 2024 NBA Draft and signed him to a four-year deal on July 3. This coincided with the Lakers re-signing James to a two-year, $104 million deal on the same day.
The elder James is a legend of the league, with four MVP awards and four NBA championships. He averaged 25.7 points, 8.3 assists and 7.3 rebounds in 71 games for the Lakers in 2023-24. The Lakers went 47-35 and lost in the first round of the playoffs.
Bronny James did not have a major role with USC during his freshman season, averaging 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 25 games. The transition to the NBA could be difficult for the 19-year-old, but with his dad donning the same jersey, he should have some familiarity.
