Phillies' Bryce Harper Suffers Hamstring Injury vs. Marlins, Will Undergo Imaging

Philadelphia Phillies slugger Bryce Harper suffered a hamstring injury during the team's 7-4 loss to the Miami Marlins on Thursday night.

Harper grabbed at his left hamstring after making the final out of the game and told reporters that he would undergo imaging on Friday.

"I felt my lower hammy, just a little bit," he said, per ESPN. "We're going to get an image tomorrow and see what that looks like. See how I feel tomorrow and go from there."

Harper went 1-5 with a run-scoring double in the first inning against Miami.

When asked about his concern level regarding the injury, the 31-year-old didn't have a specific answer.

"I don't know," Harper said (via ESPN). "Like I said, I never felt anything like this before. It hurts."

If he's forced to miss an extended period of time, it'll be a huge blow to a Phillies team that still owns the best record in the National League despite their defeat on Thursday. Harper's individual production has helped Philadelphia get off to its hot start, as he's in the midst of another impressive year at the plate.

In 76 games to begin the 2024 season, the former Rookie of the Year is hitting .303 with 20 home runs and 58 RBIs. He's already racked up 20 doubles, while his .981 OPS is the highest mark since his last MVP-winning campaign in 2021.

Earlier on Thursday, Harper earned his eighth All-Star selection and clinched a starting spot at first base after receiving more votes than any other NL player.

Philadelphia's lineup experienced multiple injuries on Thursday night, as designated hitter Kyle Schwarber left in the ninth inning due to groin tightness. After the game, Phillies manager Rob Thomson told the media that he wouldn't have an update on Schwarber until Friday (h/t Paul Casella of MLB.com).

Thomson's team fell to 53-28 following the loss.
