Bryson Graham Named Pelicans GM to Replace Trajan Langdon ahead of 2024 NBA Draft

The New Orleans Pelicans announced the hiring of Bryson Graham as their new general manager Tuesday.

Graham replaces Trajan Langdon, who left this offseason to take over basketball operations for the Detroit Pistons. Langdon had been the Pelicans' GM since 2019, reporting to executive vice president of basketball operations David Griffin.

"Over his 14 NBA seasons, Bryson has built a stellar reputation throughout the NBA," Griffin said in a statement. "First and foremost, he is recognized for the strength of his character. His work ethic, basketball acumen, leadership ability and eye for talent have contributed immeasurably to our growth as a franchise. I couldn't be happier to see him assume the role of general manager of the New Orleans Pelicans."

Graham has been with the Pelicans since joining the organization as an intern in 2010. He slowly worked his way up the ranks before being promoted to assistant general manager for the last five seasons.

The Pelicans also hired Jon Moul as their new senior director of cap and strategy.

While Griffin will continue to be the lead decision maker in New Orleans, it's no coincidence Graham was named to his new role right before the NBA draft. He's developed a reputation for his strong draft acumen and will help the team decide who to take with the No. 21 pick Wednesday night.

The Pelicans also enter a critical summer as they continue trying to build a winner around Zion Williamson. Griffin has been open about his desire to shake up the roster after years of letting the roster's young players grow together. Brandon Ingram is widely seen as a potential trade candidate as he approaches the final year of his contract.

The Pels could also explore the market for CJ McCollum, who is under contract through the 2025-26 season. Longtime center Jonas Valanciunas is also slated for unrestricted free agency this summer and is expected to test the market.
